Surging Demand for Ayurvedic Products Amid Health Concerns | Indore News

Demand for ayurvedic products, oils surge

Indore: The spread of chikungunya and approching winters have bolstered demand for herbal extracts, ayurvedic body pain relievers and immunity boosters, compelling homegrown units to recruit additional workforce to address the surging demand.
Beyond increased orders from domestic centres, export-oriented units have likewise witnessed an uptick in demand from international markets.
Chiraita, pippali, awla, pain relieving oils, extracts of ashwagandha, gokhru, and senna, chawanprash, ayurvedic cough syrup and kadas have experienced a substantial rise in consumer demand.
Ashish Dubey, secretary, Ayush Nirmata Sangh said “There has been a surge in demand for ayurvedic products mostly for body pain, cold, cough and extracts. Enquiries for oils and pain relievers from patients of chikungunya has escalated significantly in the city due to rise in cases.”
In Madhya Pradesh, more than 1,000 ayush manufacturers are registered with the state government, said the association of herbal and ayurvedic products manufacturers of which more than 100 herbal and ayurvedic product manufacturers have broadened operations in the international markets amid flourishing demand.
Ayurvedic products manufactured in Indore are distributed across India like Delhi, Punjab, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and other states in the country, said manufacturers.
Manufacturers said amid growing demand, maximum units have transitioned to automatic mode whilst several industries have semi automatic configurations.
Industries catering to the international markets have documented a marked increase in demand for extracts from the US and European markets.
Rahul Marwal, director of a herbal products manufacturing industry said he has expanded presence and supplies in the international markets as finished goods in the form of extracts dispatched from India serves as raw materials in the foreign markets.
Indore is home to approximately 200 ayurvedic medicine manufacturing units, and the total market size is estimated to exceed Rs 1,000 crore, according to the Ayush Nirmata Sangh.
