PITT COUNTY, NC — Pitt County Health officials are also spreading awareness about diabetes.
The Health Department hosted a block party to kick off National Diabetes Awareness Month this morning.
People were able to visit interactive booths, join a support group and learn more about the latest diabetes technology. Free health screenings were also available.
Diabetes Care Coordinator Patti Columbe says it’s a way to help the community.
This event is about our care team and community. Everybody with diabetes and the people that they love. It’s to spread the word for them for prediabetes, gestational and type 2 diabetes with information, resources and education.
There were games and giveaways at this event as well.
