Costco Just Launched a New Product That’s Perfect for Your Rotisserie Chicken

  • Costco is selling a Tupperware XL container that’s perfect for storing rotisserie chicken.
  • The BPA-free, dishwasher-safe container holds 1.5 gallons and includes a tray for easy chicken removal.
  • It’s also ideal for brining meat, storing food for travel and even helping to keep bread from going stale.

If you’re a fan of Costco’s rotisserie chicken, there’s a new product that will make a huge difference in your life. The grocery warehouse just released a new Tupperware container designed to hold the whole chicken. This comes after the newly designed packaging in March 2024, where they ditched the original plastic container in favor of a plastic bag.

The move to bags helped the company reduce plastic use by 75% for every chicken, something that aligns with their sustainability commitment and efforts to improve their environmental impact.

Now they’ve come up with a reusable solution for anyone missing the original hard-shell packaging. The Tupperware XL Food Storage Container is made of BPA-free plastic and is dishwasher-safe. It has a capacity of 1.5 gallons and also features a grooved tray with handles, which is perfect for helping you lift out the delicious chicken without any mishaps.

Costco recently shared the product on Instagram, where Costco shoppers had mixed reviews about the release. Though some commenters fell in love instantly, others were more skeptical, acknowledging that the new product, which is being sold for $23.79 online, “costs more than the chicken.” Others noted that their rotisserie chicken never lasted long enough for them to store it, since they couldn’t resist enjoying it the same day.

The good news is that you may be able to get a better deal on the Tupperware in-store—some of our editors have seen them priced at $12.99 at physical Costco stores.

Rotisserie chicken aside, the oval-shaped container also lends itself to a slew of other uses. The product description mentions that it’s an ideal choice for storing and brining other meats, including ham, fish and even a small turkey. And some early reviewers get even more creative, stating that it’s perfect for keeping “homemade bread fresh” or in a cooler “to hold lunch meat, cheese, veggies and other refrigerated items” while traveling.

The container is now available in warehouses and online for shipping. If you’re tired of the flimsy plastic bags and are looking for a long-term solution for storing your chicken, it might be worth the purchase.
