My father-in-law has practiced podiatric medicine in Los Angeles since 1987. He retired last year after nearly four decades of doctoring feet, preferring to spend his golden years on a pickleball court rather than in an office. 

While I definitely married my husband because I love him, I’ll admit that having a podiatrist on call sweetened the deal. He not only takes care of my calluses when they get too big, but he also always has a walking shoe recommendation when I need one. There are a few reasons why my father-in-law recommends this shoe. First and foremost, he appreciates its lightweight build and ample cushion, dubbing it “the lightest Mach to date.” He also swears by the foam midsole, which is designed to enhance comfort and responsiveness while walking. Lastly, he likes that the materials in the sneaker are breathable, keeping your feet from overheating. And if all of these reasons aren’t enough, the shoes also have an internal gusset for a snug fit.    

Hundreds of Hoka shoppers echo his praise. One cardio enthusiast described them as “a little springy, responsive, perfectly cushioned while still lightweight,” adding that they’re “good for easy runs, but exceptional for faster paces.” A second shopper has been wearing Hoka sneakers for years, preferring the “thicker sole and wider toe” that separates the Mach 6 from some of the brand’s other styles. While a third customer called them the “most comfortable Hoka ever,” writing that they “won’t wear anything else,” a fourth dubbed the shoe “unbeatable.”   

The Mach 6 is available in 15 colors, but only the yuzu/cielo blue is nearly $30 off right now. It’s an excellent deal for a superior sneaker. Take it from me, if my podiatrist father-in-law recommends it, then it’s undoubtedly worth the money.
